More information about the RJ 140
The story of the RJ 140 begins in 1972. A group of Swedish sailors wanted to build a ship that could compete with the then leading Swan yachts during the famous Gotland Runt. Designer Rolf Jacobsson drew a fast, seaworthy and elegant yacht, built at Tollare Bruk near Stockholm according to Lloyd's guidelines.
More than fifty years later, the RJ 140 is still a ship that impresses. She sails fast, is course-stable and feels at home on both inland waters and long sea voyages.
This RJ 140, Salsa, also has a special past. The wood carvings in the cabin, including the beautiful Hanoman statue, commemorate a trip to Indonesia and give the ship its own character.
In recent years, much attention has been paid to maintenance and renewal. For example, a 2020 Timray engine with AutoProp folding propeller has been installed, the navigation has been renewed with Garmin equipment (2022), a new hot air heater was installed in 2024, and a new genoa was installed in 2025. The paintwork, teak deck, and upholstery have also been carefully addressed.
